We are now seeing The Fuky Effect, which is the on-again, off-again fissioning of one of more of the corium(s), as they interact with water below Fukushima.

Despite what the Japanese Gov't. (who own TEPCO) says there will continued radioactive releases for decades if not far longer and that is if nothing goes BAD, in which case many scary possibilities could come to pass!

It took awhile for the forensics and reconstruction in what was a very difficult and stressgul situation. Fukushima did not occur in a vacuum.It occured due to a well beyond design basis natural phenomena event that saw 20,000 lose their lives. For some reason antinukes like to dismiss these real deaths and human tragedy. The UCS account by Lochbaum using strip charts was actually proof that the cores were covered by the time the 60 ft tsunami hit and took out the diesels. The reason the cores overheated was due to decay heat subcritical fissions. The subcritical fissions decay as t^-1.5 over time and 5 years later is the same fission rate as newly spent fuel in the fuel pool. There was no prompt criticality proven and teally what happened was a former nuclear industry whistleblower showed why being a degreed nuclear engineer isnt enough. The specialists weighed in and he has been largely silenced, and relegated to serve antinuclear causes exclusively. So there is no mystery, Fairewinds has propped itself up as an education site yet largely biased as antinuclear.

There is more Cs137 in the atmosphere from burning coal the past 150 years than all nuclear power mishaps combined. Including Chernobyl.Someone with a spreadsheet can easily verify this. Also with the same soreadsheet they can calculate the net loss in fission products caused by using nuclear vs fossil. It seems counter to science but its true. The reason its true is that fossil got a free pass all these years. More regulation came down to limit nuclear cost effectiveness while increasing burning fossil and pumping radionuclides in the air from tramp uranium in anthracite. All under the nose of the EPA in this country and antinukes that didnt know that coal gives off alpha particles from radon.

In any event the scientific truth is out and people like Kaku, Caldicott, Gundersen, Busby, Moret, et al are not really bumbling boobs but fools.

The reason the environment is in the shitter has a lot to do with human population increases and technology develioment. There are some 10,000 known cancer causing agents that have their own MSDS entries. The most toxic chemicals to man are under our own kitchen and bathroom sinks. Cancer is up not because of deminimus radiation levels but because population rates and carcinogens are up. The human genome is robust to 1 radioactive atom. A spreadsheet analysis can bracket how much radioactive energy emibates from our own bodies. Medical professionals wear protection when dealing with human fluids not because of radiation but because of hunan viruses like HIV. More of a threat than any radiation.

Antinukes know their cause is lost because all the issues they bring up are well known and reasobable people are addressing them with new science and technology. Nuclear is posed to take on this "Nuclear 2.0" and antinukes are going to be seen as the modern day Luddites that they are.
