Thanks for the excellent tour and sharp photographs. I used to live in Beltsville, Maryland. My sisters and I enjoyed immensely going downtown, exploring the attic of the National Gallery, the Smithsonian Institution's buildings, climbing each and every stair to the tippy-top of the Washington monument. I may never pass that way again.

I|we had no inkling then of the Masonic layout of the District of Columbia, a third node in a global network even way back then, along with Vatican City and the City of London, each marked with a spectacular obelisk. At least the "fencing" has a potential utility -- keeping the rats inside!
