New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern put the country under national lockdown after authorities detected a single case of the CCP virus, likely the Delta variant, in the city of Auckland.

Yesterday Naftali Bennett, the prime minister of Israel, issued an stark (if unintentionally) revealing warning to his country about the failure of the mRNA vaccines.

As you know if you are a regular reader, Israel is the canary in the world’s coalmine for Covid and the vaccines. It vaccinated more of its citizens with the Pfizer shot more quickly than almost anywhere else.

This spring, Israel’s experience seemed to validate the success of the vaccines. Now it’s a cautionary tale, as I explained in a Substack almost two weeks ago (time flies when nations are falling).

Unfortunately since then the data has gotten much worse.

The number of serious cases has risen almost 30-fold since late June. Roughly 60 percent of those people are fully vaccinated.

Yet the vaccine fanatics refuse to admit the depth of Israeli the crisis. Instead they continue to point out that per-person rates of serious illness are higher in the unvaccinated elderly.

They are correct, but they’re leaving out a key fact. Over 90 percent of Israelis over 70 have been vaccinated, suggesting that many of the remainder have not received vaccinations because they are too frail to do so. (One datapoint supporting this fact: Vaccination rates actually peak among people in their seventies and then decline as people get older, even though the oldest people are at the highest risk and should be the most likely to be vaccinated.)

Thus the relative numbers matter much less than the absolute numbers and trend. And the absolute trend is awful.

Which brings us to what Naftali Bennett tweeted yesterday.

“Non-immunization for a third time leaves senior citizens in mortal danger. Get vaccinated now.”

These older Israelis are already vaccinated. Yet as Israel’s Covid wards, fill their prime minister is now more or less admitting that they are unprotected against the virus.

A major preprint out of Japan from July 30 explains why.

The researchers examined Pfizer vaccine-generated antibodies in more than 200 people and found that on average they fell to undetectable levels about 6.5 months after the first shot - or roughly five after they reach full vaccination.

In other words, the Israel failure is happening right on schedule. Vaccine protection lasts months, not years. (Four months, give or take, since protection is limited the first month and likely negative the first week or two.)

Thus Bennett’s desperate call for a third shot. But although the booster does seem to produce new antibodies, neither the Israeli government nor Pfizer nor anyone else can know whether it will reduce infections or deaths, either temporarily or permanently. NO ONE HAS CONDUCTED ANY CLINICAL TRIALS TO DETECT THESE ENDPOINTS OR TO EXAMINE THIRD SHOT SIDE-EFFECTS IN ANY DETAIL. (I looked at this issue last week in a different Substack.)

For much of 1967, in the face of rising American discontent, the United States government insisted it was making progress in beating back the North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong.

Then, in late January 1968, the VC and North Vietnamese launched a massive offensive that coincided with the lunar new year (which in Vietnamese is called “Tet”). All over South Vietnam, including in the capital of Saigon, American and South Vietnamese troops came under attack.

Many military historians have made the point that Tet was a failure for the attackers. The American military was not overrun.

But it didn’t matter. The scale of the offensive put the lie to the Pentagon’s insistence that it was near victory. Tet made clear that even with a force of 500,000 American soldiers and a massive airpower advantage, the United States was further from pacifying Vietnam than it had been years before.

The war was over.

But the killing wasn’t. The American government couldn’t admit the truth that was obvious to anyone paying attention. Even when it did, it needed years more to extricate itself. From 1969 through 1971, more than 20,000 Americans and many more Vietnamese died in a fight everyone could see was pointless.

Covid has now reached its Tet moment. Anyone looking hard at the data can see the stark limits of the vaccines. Unfortunately, that group includes very few journalists. Almost no one yesterday pointed out what Bennett was really saying.

And of course our governments appear committed to this course and cannot admit the truth.

Through the yearly vaccination program, they will have the ability to inject various compounds for whatever purposes they need: Sterilization (they've done this already), specific infection (apparently they've done this too), Genetic modification through Crispr or whatever else tickles their fancy. You will have no control or choice over what they inject into your body.

Clif High talks to Language Magazine about his work

LM: Where does your interest in language and/or linguistics originate? And can you explain how it correlates with your love of mathematics?

CH: My interest in language stems from my schooling in the polyglot environment of the occupation forces in Europe following the war with Germany. As with all military dependents, exposure to multiplicity of language is part of the experience. Language, for me, matured in its fascination due to personal experience with mind expanding drugs that had a direct effect on the language centre of my brain. Further, the elucidation of the rich depth of purpose of language in all forms that came from those altered state experiences was later reinforced by decades working as a software engineer and computer/network systems programmer in which the human to computer interface is, of course, built of words. The attraction of mathematics has always been, at its core, a love of the practical proofs of reality provided to the astute and prepared mind in the chaos of this universe.

LM: Can you briefly explain how language analysis (in terms of bots/data mining/language corpora) can help anticipate future events?

CH: Not simply. Concisely, my process works by way of the delta of language expressed in common contexts over time reduced to archetypes and projected forward based on numeric quantifiers for emotional values assigned to words.

LM: Is there a correlation between your work and corpus linguistics?

CH: My work is a specifically focused sub set of corpus linguistics and uses advanced automata of my own design crafted (primarily) in prolog, an artificial intelligence language that is able to re-compile (thus alter its function based on new learning) while in operation.

LM: What languages do you employ in your data searches?

CH: We use C, C++, prolog, lisp, perl, and some small assembly language sub routines in our data searches. The process uses the multibyte character encoding so the human language is determined at the time the word or corpora is encountered….thus to a certain extent, given automated translation (especially useful at the corpora level) from API calls, all the language samples, (*in the main*) are reduced to one of five human languages that we use, with the American expression of English being the most common.

LM: Can it be explained how algorithms are used on the data?

CH: Not easily. There are over 300 operating executables in my system (programs). At its base, I created a lexicon that functions as a link between the words and an array of emotional values that I *think* represents that word in its relationship to time, intensity and duration of impact (on our emotional state) and other emotional quantifiers.

LM: How do you test/measure the validity/accuracy of your findings?

CH: There are spyders (programs that read the net for me) which match the appearance of corpora in MSM (mainstream media) and our forecasts. These are my only continual reference of accuracy. There are a number of readers who have maintained accuracy spread sheets over the years. These may or may not be available, but my focus is to mature, or refine my system via other routes. Even though I am producing work with my system, I am still in my exploration period with this particular corpus linguistics tool set, so, to a certain extent, I am less concerned with accuracy of ‘hits’, and more focused on perfecting my understanding of how words and humans and time all interact.

LM: It´s easy to see how changes in language could precede changes in behaviour, however how can we bridge the gap between linguistic analysis and natural disasters or events beyond our control?

CH: All humans are psychic. It stems from our living in an energy based universe, as energy beings, who happen to think themselves solid. As energy beings, we are ‘standing waves ‘that can be considered to be ‘antenna’. As antenna, we receive psychic energy floating through our energetic universe as our particular tuning and local consciousness may allow.

These psychic impressions of universe unfolding arrive with the ‘template layer’ of information that exists prior to actual ‘manifestation’. This information is received, but most frequently NOT understood by the recipient. Their conscious mind *must* express this information somehow (just how consciousness works here in matterium), and therefore it ‘leaks out’ in many ways. One manner is in word choices that are outside the typical range of less than 11,000 words used in any given year by the average (industrialized = cube farmed) human. Thus the events outside our control are not outside our perception, however much any given individual human may or may not be able to express this perception of the near term future. For further, more scientific validation, we have the work of Dr Raiden among others.

LM: Can you see your method being used more widely?

CH: It is being used by corporations nascently now, and I expect a greater level of adoption of the techniques over time. However, the process is expensive, and tedious, and requires years of effort just to get ‘settled in’…

LM: And furthermore, can it be taught to other people?

CH: Yes, sure.

LM: or used destructively?

CH: Yes, sure. Thus I keep my techniques close.

LM: How do you feel you are received?

CH: Received? By the thinking public and the powers that be – quite well. My track record speaks for itself. From those who do not possess critical thinking skills, or are dominated by religious constraints on their point of view, my work is received poorly – as was to be expected.

LM: And whose work do you admire?
CH: Buckminster Fuller, Michael Tsarion (great critical thinker, especially these last few years). David Icke.

LM: What are your predictions for the future of language usage?

CH: The future of language will, this year, reach the point of a complexity increase providing new areas of exploitation in communication and understanding (of universe and ourselves), both intra and inter species. By this I mean that language, in all its forms from DNA through to macroscopically burst bloops and dense form glumps, will be actually propelling human civilization changes this year. The data sets that I analyse suggest that from Summer (northern hemisphere) of this year linguists will be frequently commenting on their ‘wonder’ and ‘awe’ over the developing nature of language in our solar system.

LM: You mentioned American English, being used in your data searches, what are the other four human languages?

CH: Actually there are over 40 human languages being sampled now. The issue is transliteration.
So we are using English in all its flavours in multibyte expression, all the Cyrillics, Greek, and some Snskrtta variants out to Indonesian. Some, extra mainland, Chinese variants are also thinly represented. This is due to their blocking my access due the Chinese Government maintaining that my site supports ‘superstition’. This is beyond hypocritical as I have encountered much evidence that they are also doing as I in the interpretation of language at radical levels.

LM: Can you give us an example of this emotional evaluation of a word or group of words to better understand the process? For instance, what is the value of the word “beautiful” or is it relative to the data sets? Or is such a question even too simplistic to be appropriately applied to the mathematics in question?

CH: It is simplistic. The process reduces everything down to a thick, syrupy mass based on archetypes. Noting that there are thousands of overlapping word usages, obviously, archetypes proceed in a taxonometric fashion reflecting word usage and historical precedent. Also, note that ‘beautiful’ as a word, is low emotive value. Think of things the other way…all words of high emotive value are in what I have labelled ‘immediacy values.’ Such words, in and of themselves, expressed within the current context generated by the current milieu, will produce an immediate, emotive reaction. We can demonstrate, without intending offense, in a rather shamanistic fashion, by drawing your attention to the slightly redacted word ‘c*nt’.

To all English speaking women, this word is immediately emotive. So you see, as per your question below, it is the ‘bleeding edge’ of language that has the most emotive power, and this is usually expressed in the area that we call ‘slang.’

Such words as ‘beautiful’ are within the far edge of the shorter term value set. Within my model space they have very little ‘propulsion’ power.

It is my contention that, due to the powers that be and their stranglehold on the English speaking media, the most powerfully emotive words are overwhelmingly negative, and that this is an engineered result of the efforts of the mainstream media. It is also my contention that this state has now shifted, and that the mainstream media is in the process of failing as an ‘institution’ such that a new flow of language is emerging globally…

LM: How does the AI program allow for such linguistic factors as in the creative invention of new word/phrase usages and/or the accounting for the complexities of contextual reference of grammatical structure in language phrasing?

CH: Basically the processing kicks out references that are not within its understanding and awaits for human assistance in further categorizing the anomaly. Within a limited range it learns over time, but humans are a shifty lot continually increasing their inventive use of language.

LM: And how do you algorithm into value, for instance, the meaning of satire and sarcasm within the context of pure data of word usage counts? In other words, to what extent does the AI “read” text?

CH: The processing I use does not do word counts. Well, it does, but only to keep track of where it is, not as a part of our end result. Bear in mind, it is not the words being used today that are the real key to my forecasting; rather it is the delta as to why this particular word (outside of typical lexical framework for that conversation) that is of importance. Most of my most accurate forecasts are worked around single word instances that have very low frequency counts. As a case in point, the recent forecast, by weeks ahead of the event, of the ‘blondes on boats’ incident off Italy. This was worked up off of a single occurrence of the word ‘blondes’ that was totally outside the normal range for the data set in which it appeared. Make sense? As this word had never until that time shown up in that data set, it was intriguing, and led directly to the forecast, which was later manifest in reality. The count of the word ‘blondes’ in the total data set of the larger entity structure was within nominal range, but just due to this single instance occurring in an exceptional relationship to other words, I was aware that I was actually viewing a ‘future leak’…then the issue became proper interpretation. It is usually here that I screw up.

The word counts are used internally in assaying changing states of words as regards to their existent emotive tagging in our lexicon. Basically, the ebb and flow of words from slang out toward ‘old age’ for words.

Yes, the prolog program does read text. In no sense does it ‘understand’ any meanings, but it is perfectly capable of encountering a new word, seeking, via API calls, definitions, and then providing preliminary categorization based on the aggregate of the definitions. It takes a human to assign emotive values within the context.

LM: From what you have described, regarding the future of language usage, this sounds like the makings of quantum linguistics. Do you have any thoughts on the subject?

CH: None that can be let out into the wild at this time.

COVID-19 Immunity: Our key findings

We recently conducted a study to find out key information about immunity and antibodies in response to COVID-19.

As the only not-for-profit offering COVID-19 antibody testing at cost, we want to contribute to getting our communities back on track. By conducting this research and sharing our results, we believe it can help to advance our understanding of the virus and immunity to it.

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete our survey. Your support is invaluable and has helped us to gain these key insights, which is immensely helpful in our ongoing research.

What did we want to achieve?

We wanted to gain a better understanding of antibody duration and reinfection from our community’s perspective.

One of the key things that motivated this study was the opportunity to obtain insights from a wider set of individuals, as opposed to studies conducted to date which have focused on healthcare workers or the critically ill. As such, we strongly believe that our customer base of +20,000 individuals is extremely representative of the impact of COVID-19 across the UK.

Who were our respondents?

We had 5,349 respondents, 57% were female and 43% male. Of these, 27% tested positive for antibodies whilst 73% tested negative.

What did our key findings reveal?

Amongst our respondents, the majority experienced moderate symptoms (some effect on daily life)
Amongst all of our respondents, 10% have experienced symptoms of Long Covid
For our respondents who have tested positive for antibodies, 12% have experienced symptoms of Long Covid

Reinfection and immunity

Our data shows that for people with COVID-19 antibodies, reinfection only occurred in less than 0.5%

For comparison, the Siren study conducted by Public Health England detected 44 potential reinfections out of 20,787 participants.

The study was conducted between 18 June and 9 November and tested healthcare workers to gain a better understanding of rates of reinfection. Results from the research found that 83% of the participants had protection from reinfection that appeared to last for five months from first becoming unwell.

This research combined with our own gives us strong optimism that antibodies provide a degree of protection from reinfection. However, early evidence from the next stage of the Siren study suggested that some people who are protected by antibodies still carry high levels of the virus and could continue to infect others, which highlights the importance of continuing to follow the social distancing guidelines to protect one another.

Our data indicates a gradual build up of antibodies through time as well as a strong correlation between symptom severity and antibody response, with asymptomatic patients less likely to test positive for antibodies

From looking at the data, we found that the longest duration for antibody analysis are those who were exposed to COVID-19 in March/April 2020. There was limited testing available at the time, especially for mild cases outside of hospital or healthcare, which may have motivated individuals to take antibody tests in order to explain previous symptoms.

Kelly Klifa, Co-Founder of TFA, said: “Our data clearly shows that COVID-19 antibodies can remain in the system over time and prevent individuals from becoming reinfected. This is great news for the vaccine programme, as it’s based on the same premise – providing protection against the virus by encouraging the body to produce COVID-19 antibodies.

“However, the data also shows that not everybody who’s had the virus retains antibodies in their system, and they may still be vulnerable to reinfection. We encourage everybody to get vaccinated as soon as the opportunity arises, but in the meantime, we’re offering a way for people to understand whether they have antibodies, and if so, at what level.”

What’s next for Immunity Research?

Further research and advancements in diagnostics are vital in pinpointing the correlation between antibody levels and protection.

We recently launched our COVID-19 Immunity Tracker, which provides a quantitative view of protective IgG antibodies directed against the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. The test can be used to monitor immune responses to natural infection and vaccination.

Another aspect of this test is that it can be used to compare results across other test manufacturers and in line with the World Health Organisation standards, helping us understand our immunity level even further.

James Monico, Co-Founder of TFA, said: “Vaccination is the way out of this crisis, but it also requires the close monitoring of immunity at an individual level through antibody testing. We need to better understand the connection between antibody levels and the extent of immunity – what is the cut-off point where individuals start to be at risk of infection again? It’s also important to bear in mind that as variants emerge, and with immunity probably decreasing over time, there is no vaccine that currently provides a single silver bullet.

“By providing this test at an affordable price to everyone, we hope to contribute to a wider understanding of the rules of COVID-19 immunity.”

If at first you don't succeed, lie about what you promised

I’m old enough to remember when vaccines were the miracle that would put Covid behind us.

So are you.

It less than six months ago.

From January through May, as the vaccine rollout ramped up, public health experts and reporters insisted the main question about vaccines was just how fast they would get the United States back to normal.

Israel and Britain were the envy of the world, at least that part of the world watching CNN. Those countries were the early leaders in mass vaccinations. Authorities and the media desperately hoped the United States could catch up.

“Vaccine Rollout Gives U.K. a Rare Win in the Pandemic,” the New York Times wrote on January 29.

“When will the pandemic end?” Bloomberg asked on February 4. “The answer can be measured in vaccinations.”

“What life is like in countries where Covid-19 vaccination is increasingly a success,” CNN added on February 25.

Maybe the most explicit example of this equation came on February 20, the New York Times ran an article and graphics showing when the United States might reach “herd immunity” against Covid.

Herd immunity essentially means that although Sars-Cov-2 (or any pathogen) may still exist and sometimes sicken people, major outbreaks will not occur, because so many people are immune that the disease cannot spread widely.

As the Mayo Clinic explains:

“Herd immunity occurs when a large portion of a community (the herd) becomes immune to a disease, making the spread of disease from person to person unlikely.”

The Times piece was headlined, “When Could The United States Reach Herd Immunity? It’s Complicated.”

In fact, though, the answer the piece offered was simple.

It went like this: The more aggressively the United States accelerated its vaccine rollout, the faster it would reach herd immunity.

At the time, about 1.7 million Americans a day were being vaccinated. The Times suggested if the United States raised that number to 3 million, it would reach herd immunity in May, when roughly 40 percent of the population was fully vaccinated and 30 percent more had immunity from a previous infection.

The Times was clear about what assumptions underlay the model, writing, “the estimates also assume that the vaccine prevents infection.”

And the United States did accelerate its vaccinations, which peaked at 4.6 million on April 10th. The seven-day average was over 3 million for most of April. It began to slide in the middle of the month after federal regulators paused use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after reports it could cause serious blood clots.

Still, by May 20, more than 135 million Americans had been fully vaccinated - meeting the 40 percent threshold the Times had set three months before. (The number currently stands at about 167 million, just over half of all Americans, since vaccinations have slowed dramatically since May despite government and business pressure.)

The Times and other media outlets did not come up with those estimates and articles on their own. They echoed the view of public health experts - including Dr. Anthony Fauci - who were also very optimistic, and also explicitly tied the effective end of the epidemic to vaccination rates.

For example, in a December interview with NPR, Fauci predicted that once 50 percent of Americans were fully vaccinated, “you start to see an impact.” His estimates for the level of vaccinations required to reach herd immunity were higher, generally from 70 to 85 percent of the population, and rose slowly over time.

But in an interview just before Christmas with the Times, Fauci explained he had raised his estimates mainly because the virus was more contagious than initially thought. The more contagious the pathogen, the more people who must be immune - either through effective vaccination or because they have been infected and recovered naturally - to stop a case from turning into an outbreak.

Other experts went further.

“What we see is that immunity conferred by the vaccine can essentially completely limit the breakout of any infections in the population,” Galit Alter, a Harvard immunologist and virologist, said on Feb. 25.

As winter turned to spring, and cases in Israel and the United Kingdom dropped to close to zero - with hospitalizations falling even further - vaccine advocates became even cockier.

On March 29, the CDC reported that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines reduced infections by 90 percent. “The findings provide researchers with more evidence that vaccines reduce the risk of infections, including asymptomatic ones,” Axios wrote.

On April 28, Dr. Ugur Sahin - the chief executive of BioNTech, the German company that developed the mRNA vaccine Pfizer markets, said he expected European countries to reach herd immunity by July or August.

Sahin “cited studies from Israel, which shares medical data on its vaccination campaign with Pfizer, showing that people who have been immunized rarely fall seriously ill and are significantly less likely to transmit the virus to others.”

Though Sahin said he expected boosters might eventually be needed, he framed them more as a topping-up to return vaccinated people to near-full protection than a desperation measure. And he specifically said he expected the vaccine would work against the Delta variant.

“The Indian [Delta] variant has mutations that we have previously investigated and against which our vaccine also works, so I am confident there, too.”

Similarly, on May 10, the Los Angeles Times confidently predicted:

L.A. County expected to hit COVID-19 herd immunity by end of July

As soon as 80 percent of people over 16 - or roughly 65 percent of the total population - were fully vaccinated, Los Angeles could expect herd immunity, the paper wrote. “The prediction comes amid growing signs COVID-19 is fading in California.”

Health officials in San Francisco - where vaccination rates were even higher - agreed, and even said they expected to reach herd immunity first.

Perhaps most stunningly, during an April 28 interview with the TODAY show, Fauci spoke out against Joe Rogan, the popular podcast host. Rogan had said he didn’t think young people needed vaccinations because they were at low risk from the coronavirus.

Fauci didn’t disagree about the risk. But he said young people needed to be vaccinated anyway because “you can get infected [if you are not]… and even if you don’t have symptoms, you are propagating the outbreak because it is likely that you, even if you have no symptoms, you are inadvertently and innocently then infect someone else… if you want to only worry about yourself and not society, then that’s okay.”

But Fauci’s logic only made sense if vaccines would eliminate or nearly eliminate the risk of infection and transmission even in people at low risk from the virus itself.

That message was very clearly what he implied.

Now, barely three months later, the promises of herd immunity have NOT come to pass. Cases in the United States are soaring. Hospitalizations and deaths are also rising.

Throughout July and August, vaccine advocates have tried to blame these trends on fact that the United States has not hit the vaccine benchmarks they hoped. They have incorrectly called this current outbreak a pandemic of the unvaccinated.

That argument has one problem. Israel and Britain - which have essentially reached the vaccination levels that advocates promised were necessary for herd immunity - are having even worse outbreaks this summer.

In Israel, 60 percent of the entire population and 80 percent of adults are fully vaccinated. In Britain, almost 90 percent of adults have received at least one dose and 76 percent have received both.

Yet positive tests and serious hospitalizations in Israel have risen 20-fold since early July. Hospitalized patients and patients on ventilators in Britain have risen sevenfold since early June and are far higher than this time last year.

It is still not entirely clear whether the vaccines are failing because of the decrease over time in the antibodies they generate, because the Delta variant is able to elude those antibodies, or some other reason.

But what is now clear is that vaccinated people are at high risk both to be infected and to transmit the virus to others. The Centers for Disease Control acknowledged this fact on July 27, when it once again told them they should wear masks in many situations.

The new recommendation followed a large outbreak of Covid cases in early July in Provincetown, Massachusetts, in which 74 percent of infected people were fully vaccinated, as well as evidence that infected people have equally high viral loads whether or not they are vaccinated.

Now vaccine advocates have done a massive about-face. In the face of this horrendous data, they have simply refused to admit the vaccines are failing to work as they promised.

They don’t ever even acknowledge that months ago, they said vaccines would sharply reduce coronavirus infections and transmission.

No. Instead they insist that the vaccines are working just as advertised, by sharply reducing serious illness and death.

“Don’t Lose Sight of the Fact That Covid Vaccines Are Working,” Bloomberg News wrote on Friday.

“Doctor says COVID-19 vaccines are ‘working phenomenally well,’” CBS News reported in early August.

“Our vaccines are working exceptionally well," Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the director the CDC, told CNN on August 6. "They continue to work well for Delta, with regard to severe illness and death -- they prevent it.”

It is astonishing Walensky made that statement, which is ABSOLUTELY FALSE. In both Israel and Britain, most deaths are in fully vaccinated people.

Put aside the fact that the Israeli and to a lesser extent British data have now undercut the claims that the vaccines reduce the risk of hospitalization or death by 95 percent, much less 97 or 99 percent, as vaccine advocates have claimed.

Put aside that a very worrisome paper in the Journal of Infection on August 9th suggested a risk of what is called “antibody dependent enhancement” in vaccinated people infected with the Delta variant (more on this to come in another Stack).

Focus only on the fact that public health advocates and reporters have simply tossed aside what they said only months ago - and that they are now warning that even healthy adults are likely to need booster shots to keep even THIS level of protection going forward.

It is beyond clear at this point that vaccines will not just not end Covid, they so far seem to have made at best - at best - a marginal difference in the course of the epidemic.

In fact, to look at Israel’s experience against that of Lebanon and other neighboring countries with much lower vaccination rates is to wonder if they have done any good at all. (I hope to come back to that question, too, in another Stack.)

It’s okay to be wrong - as public health advocates have been, over and over and over.

It’s not okay to lie about being wrong.

But they can’t help themselves.

Personally, I don't think this level of formality is necessary, but some bureaucratic workplaces may see better success with an "official" looking document. • A person’s assessment of whether the benefits of a medical intervention outweigh the undesirable side-effects are to be respected unless they contradict authoritative Catholic moral teachings.[3]

• A person is morally required to obey his or her conscience.[4]

A Catholic may judge it wrong to receive certain vaccines for a variety of reasons consistent with these teachings, and there is no authoritative Church teaching universally obliging Catholics to receive any vaccine. An individual Catholic may invoke Church teaching to refuse a vaccine that used abortion-derived cell lines at any stage of the creation of the vaccine. More generally, a Catholic might refuse a vaccine based on the Church’s teachings concerning therapeutic proportionality. Therapeutic proportionality is an assessment of whether the benefits of a medical intervention outweigh the undesirable side-effects and burdens in light of the integral good of the person, including spiritual, psychological, and bodily goods.^{^[5]} The judgment of therapeutic proportionality must be made by the person who is the potential recipient of the intervention,^{^[6]} not by public health authorities or by other individuals who might judge differently in their own situations.

The Catholic Bishops of Colorado have affirmed this in two letters dated December 14, 2020 and March 17, 2021, concerning COVID-19 vaccines, stating:

“The bishops of Colorado affirm that the use of some COVID-19 vaccines is morally acceptable under certain circumstances…. However, if individuals have serious moral objections or health concerns about vaccines, those concerns should be respected by society and government, and those individuals should not be forced into vaccination, contrary to their conscience. The government should not impose the COVID-19 vaccines on its citizens.”^{^[7]}

Furthermore, the free-exercise clause of the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment requires state accommodation of individuals who object to vaccinations on religious grounds. Government neutrality also requires religious accommodation when the state offers secular exemptions, which is the case in Colorado for medical and non-medical exemptions^{^[8]} and exemptions through the Americans with Disabilities Act and Civil Rights Act of 1964.^{^[9]}

Vaccination is not a universal obligation and a person must obey his or her own conscience. Therefore, if a Catholic comes to an informed judgment that he or she should not receive a vaccine, then the Catholic Church requires that the person follow this judgment of conscience and refuse the vaccine. The Catechism is clear: “Man has the right to act in conscience and in freedom so as personally to make moral decisions. ‘He must not be forced to act contrary to his conscience. Nor must he be prevented from acting according to his conscience, especially in religious matters.’”^{^[10]}

Hawaii will begin to re-impose COVID-19 restrictions limiting social gatherings to avert straining the state’s healthcare, Governor David Ige said on Tuesday. The government claims the need to stamp out freedom is to stop the rapid spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus, which has allegedly pushed cases and hospitalizations in the United States to a six-month high.

“I’ll be signing an executive order that will limit social gatherings, effective immediately,” Ige said in a tweet. In June, social gatherings were increased to 25 indoors and 75 outdoors statewide but now it will be capped to no more than 10 indoors and 25 outdoor.

Hawaii, with more than 60% of its population fully vaccinated, has witnessed a rise in cases by 168% between July 26 and August 8, according to the state’s department of health. The latest guidelines will reduce the indoor capacity for bars, gyms, restaurants, and social establishments to 50%, Ige added. “Counties will review proposals for all professionally sponsored events (bigger than 50 people) and ensure appropriate safe practices will be implemented,” the governor said. –Reuters

Massive investment in clean home heating must be initiated in 2021, not some unknown year in the distant future.

Red meat and fuel should be heavily taxed. Yes, heavily.

There's no more time for delay. No more time to work things out slowly and laboriously.

Individuals need to start caring passionately, too. We need to be less materialistic. Less wasteful. We should eat far less meat and travel abroad on planes rarely, not regularly.

Disaster awaits if we continue to delay what is crucial. Let's act now, not later.

Atmospheric CO2 level in 2021: ~410ppm.
410ppm minus 280ppm = 130ppm
÷ 171 years (2021 minus 1850) = 0.76ppm of which man is responsible for ~3% = ~0.02ppm.

That’s every human on the planet and every industrial process adds ~0.02ppm CO2 to the atmosphere per year on average.

At that rate mankind’s CO2 contribution to the atmosphere would take more than 20,000 years to double the CO2 content in the atmosphere which, the IPCC states, would cause ~2°C of temperature rise. That’s ~0.0001°C increase per year for 20,000 years.

One hundred (100) generations of humanity from now (assuming ~ 25 years per generation) would experience warming of ~0.25°C more than we have today.

The Manua Loa CO2 observatory (and others) can identify and illustrate Natures seasonal variations of atmospheric CO2, but does not distinguish between natural and man made atmospheric CO2. Hardly surprising really, despite mankind’s CO2 emissions being completely independent of seasonal variation. It should reveal itself as a straight line, but is so inconsequential, this ‘vital component’ of Global Warming is not illustrated.

The global fall in output of man made CO2 over the last 16 months of the Covid-19 pandemic, estimated at ~14% (14% of ~0.02ppm CO2 = 0.0028ppm) does not register anywhere on the Manua Loa data.
