Volcano! Episode 16 and 18

For sure the rainwater, aka groundwater, comes into contact with hot magma, there is steam all over the place at Kilauea. Explosive events are rare, but I did observe a 6 ton boulder that had been tossed hundreds of feet. Recently the crater at Kilauea was filled with a water lake several hundred feet deep, which was boiled off in a matter of hours when the hot lava pushed in.
