stock here:
I thought SCOTUS opinions were supposed to provide legal analysis. Ketanji Brown Jackson seems to view them as a platform to express her feelings. Maybe she should have become an influencer instead of a Supreme Court justice.
She is only 54, we could be stuck with her for 30 years.
Was her appointment signed by Auto-Pen

Note the resemblance to the World Economic Forum

Someone—maybe John Roberts—should explain to KBJ what writing an “opinion” entails.

One of many things KBJ clearly doesn’t understand—or chooses not to.

Attempted Impeachments
Impeachment of U.S. Supreme Court Justices
To remove a U.S. Supreme Court justice, the process is the same as impeachment for the President — and it’s extremely rare and difficult:
1. Impeachment by the House of Representatives requires a simple majority vote.
2. Conviction by the Senate requires a two-thirds vote.
Only one Supreme Court justice has ever been impeached (Samuel Chase in 1804), and none have ever been removed via impeachment.
Historical Attempts to Impeach Justices
Justice Samuel Chase (1804-1805)
Reason for Impeachment: Accused of political bias and arbitrary rulings in trials involving Democratic-Republican defendants.
Outcome: Impeached by the House in 1804. Acquitted by the Senate in 1805.
Significance: Set a precedent discouraging partisan impeachment of justices.
Justice William O. Douglas (1970)
Reason for Impeachment Attempt: Accused by House Minority Leader Gerald Ford of financial misconduct and poor judgment.
Outcome: Investigated by the House Judiciary Committee. No articles of impeachment filed.
Significance: Highlighted the broad and controversial interpretation of ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’.
Justice Abe Fortas (1969)
Reason for Impeachment Talk: Accepted $20,000 from a foundation associated with a convicted stock manipulator.
Outcome: Resigned under pressure. No formal proceedings occurred.
Significance: His resignation avoided formal impeachment.
Chief Justice Earl Warren (1950s-60s)
Reason for Impeachment Talk: Accused by political opponents for liberal rulings, especially on civil rights cases.
Outcome: No impeachment resolution was filed.
Significance: Reflective of ideological attacks without substantive misconduct allegations.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh (2018, 2021)
Reason for Impeachment Calls: Allegations of perjury and sexual misconduct during confirmation hearings.
Outcome: Some members of Congress called for impeachment inquiries. No articles were filed.
Significance: Demonstrated modern polarization over Supreme Court confirmations.
——————————————- PROCESS FOR REMOVAL
To remove a U.S. Supreme Court justice, the process is the same as impeachment for the President — and it’s extremely rare and difficult:
🔨 1. Impeachment by the House of Representatives
The House must pass articles of impeachment by a simple majority vote (218 of 435 if all members vote).
The charges typically involve “Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors” — the same constitutional standard as for presidents.
⚖️ 2. Trial and Conviction by the Senate
The Senate then holds a trial, presided over by the Vice President (or sometimes the Chief Justice if the accused is the President).
To convict and remove the justice, two-thirds of the Senate must vote to convict (67 of 100 senators if all are present).
📜 Historical Note
Only one Supreme Court justice has ever been impeached:
Justice Samuel Chase (1804) was impeached by the House for political bias and misconduct.
He was acquitted by the Senate in 1805, and remained on the bench.
No Supreme Court justice has ever been removed from office by impeachment.
🧷 Other Removal Scenarios (Extremely Rare or Theoretical)
Resignation – voluntary.
Death in office – common due to lifetime appointments.
Disability – there’s no formal procedure to remove a justice for mental or physical unfitness unless impeachment is used.
🔒 In Summary
Step Requirement Outcome
1 House majority Justice is impeached
2 Senate 2/3 vote Justice is removed
Removing a Supreme Court justice is meant to be difficult by design, to ensure judicial independence from political whims.
