Noel Brett, a former road safety boss and Bob Collins, an ex-RTE director-general are among eight appointees to the state’s new policing authority.
The agency that was announced by Frances Fitzgerald, the justice minister, in May, is being set up in response to the garda whistleblower scandal of 2014, which uncovered misconduct and malpractice.
Ms Fitzgerald unveiled the eight members that will serve under Josephine Feehily, the appointed chairwoman of the authority. Ms Feehily was the former chairwoman of the Revenue Commissioners.
