Non-Lethal Weapons, Byrna, CO2 Powered 300 FPS

stock here: reddit is always some mix of piece of sheet trolls, lefties, and occasionally some great common sense comments. Some of these comments clarified the issue of “should I own one of these”.

The option discussed below is the Byrna. Answer is Yes. They come in Black and Orange.

There are some other options: Someone said the Grimberg is “a beast”.

Grimberg Gavle gun, TR.50 or a Umarex T4E.

The Grimberg Gavle Gun, TR.50, and Umarex T4E series are all popular non-lethal weapons, primarily known for their use in personal defense and tactical training scenarios. Here’s a breakdown of each:

Grimberg Gavle Gun: The Grimberg model is often compared to the Umarex TR.50 for its versatility. It primarily fires non-lethal projectiles such as pepper balls or rubber balls. It is designed for high-pressure situations, with an emphasis on personal defense.

Umarex TR.50: The TR.50 is a .50 caliber CO2-powered revolver. Its standout feature is the ability to use various types of ammunition, including paintballs, rubber balls, and pepper balls, making it highly versatile. It’s a powerful tool for home defense, offering significant force (11 joules) with relatively easy maintenance due to its CO2 system. The TR.50 is praised for its reliability and effectiveness in delivering accurate shots over medium distances (up to 60-70 feet)(

Umarex T4E: Another well-regarded product line from Umarex, the T4E (Training for Engagement) models focus on providing realistic self-defense training. These CO2-powered guns shoot similar non-lethal rounds, such as rubber or pepper balls, at high velocity. The T4E is commonly used for both training and defense purposes, and like the TR.50, it is built to withstand tough conditions(

These tools are ideal for non-lethal self-defense and tactical training, providing a solid balance of power and versatility. They are especially useful in areas where carrying lethal firearms may not be legal or desirable. The ability to load CO2 cartridges and various ammunition types makes them practical and adaptable for a range of defense scenarios.

Orange: people may suspect it is not a conventional gun. Black: In the heat of the moment, most people would not think it to be anything but a conventional gun. Either one could de-escalate a road rage, robbery, or just a harassing group.

For home defense, someone is in your house, uninvited (most likely). None of these would not be your tool of choice.

  1. Fact: But I don’t want to kill my neighbors dog or some crazy homeless person. A Byrna works for both. You can’t get a cop to respond to homeless calls out here where I am. I know, I know there are a lot of histrionic folks who want to kill any threat to their family. But not every threat needs to be killed and in fact you might end us behind bars if you do depending on the county and DA.

2) Crazies and Zombies: It seems as though everybody’s missing the entire point of these okay it’s not to bring a knife to a gunfight okay it is to provide you with a possible means of escaping a situation where if you were not armed with something you have a better chance, just having it can be a deterrent in itself if it is visible and believe me if you get hit with one of these the stun Factor Plus the pain factor of just the regular kinetic balls is most likely going to be enough to give me a chance to exit the situation and I sprayed a little bit of that keychain Mace in the air in a room one time and it cleared the room and everybody was gagging and crying at the same time I’ve seen the dispersal of the pepper balls and what it can do to somebody it is absolutely a deterrent and absolutely better than not having anything at all especially when walking our dogs at night when we encounter people having arguments with the grass, guys walking down the street in broad daylight smashing the windows out of businesses, I watched a guy scream at a pizzeria sign for an hour leave and 2 hours later come back and finish his screaming match with it ok, just makes you feel a little bit safer. have the bryna

3) They are fairly light

4) The CO2 canister does not puncture until your first shot, so the concern about it leaking out over time and then not being there for you when you need it goes away. But if you have practiced with the gun, you should definitely put in a fresh CO2 before “storing” it.
