QUICK ADDER -- Hawaii Volcano Observatory just yesterday published a "don't worry be happy" article on the Hilina Slump (1000 foot Tsunami potential).
https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/observatories/hvo/hvo_volcano_watch.html?vwid=1427
per the new article
Despite triggering motion on the pali, no catastrophic failure of the slump occurred in either 1975 or 2018.
LOL because we didn't get a 1000' tsunami don't worry be happy.
Hakuna Matata!

Trying not to lose this resource. A scientific survey of various earth mantle material, and a clue into what may have launched earth into an oxygen rich state, they say 3.5B years ago.
They use a Titanium ratio Ti49/Ti47 as a proxy and it looks like a good one.

There is a lot of work to be done here. The theory is strong, even obvious.
It would be awesome to have large data sets of volcanic activity, earthquake activity, correlated to not just sun spot cycles but also presence and timing of Coronal Holes and CMEs (large data sets on a long term basis). I have not had the chance
to search for these yet.
Initial research is limited to some near and dear to my heart, Hawaii. The 2018 eruption event was characterized by tremendous eruptions always in the wee hours of the morning.
During the day, the sun is compressing the magnetic field of earth facing the sun, letting in more Galactic Cosmic Rays which can penetrate maybe 2 miles into the earth. From the other side of space, the earth effectively blocks all the GCR's (shielding). So during the day, the GCRs are activating/nucleating gases, setting off a chain reaction of increased gases, rising magma, decreasing pressure, increased gases.....
Got it now?
Hence some study on what are the gases within Magma, and in particular in Hawaii. The simple answer is water vapor, CO2, and SO2.
What is also important is the shape and depth of the magma chambers and delivery tubes or slots. These can be studied by 3D mapping of the earthquakes, which I "invented" last year, but haven't had the time to create the results.
OK here is some basic material research, I am not drawing conclusions at this time. Another important feature of Hawaii volcanoes is the occasional seriously high "fountaining".
