I can recommend highly to any reader with any interest (not usurious curiosity [!]) Michael Hoffman's book, "The Occult Renaissance Church of Rome".

As a "fallen away" Catholic circa 1965, I can attest to Hoffman's documentation of consequences of the infiltration and twisting of that institution's teachings. All of which makes sense of "Vatican II", its sequel, and the "before".
Please see also works and words of Anna Von Reitz. She nails to the wall the role of the "Vatican" in modern-day malfeasances -- along with the City of London and the District of Columbia.
