Epitath for an Ocean
God speed, dear Ocean, we barely knew ye.
Yet never fear, when we are wiped from this planet, ye shall be fine in 200,000 to 2,000,000 years, climate change, nuclear lies, and all. Yet the spectacular variety and beauty of lifeforms that made SCUBA diving an epic pleasure may not even recover in that time frame.
To re-evolve that diversity of beauty is not a sure thing in any time frame. For that, and for your general demise, we bid our request for forgiveness for us and those of our species who put greed, ignorance, politics, nuclear waste, and corporate plundering ahead of clear cut problems and ahead of your interests.
Even those among us who fought for you, did not fight hard enough or smart enough, but we had many battles to fight on many angles for our own survival.
We failed and please forgive us.
