Massive 7.5 Earthquake Strikes Indonesia Just When Things Were Getting Kind On Normal

This is a shallow earthquake, more likely to throw a tsunami, but less likely to set off a series of huge aftershocks.   Deep earthquakes are often followed by larger shallower earthquakes.

The last week or two has been relatively "new normal" with series of EQ on the North Slope (Alaska), and some EQ hitting the massive Moana Loa smack dab in the latest caldera and high up in the volcano.    Hawaii and it's Hilina Slump need to be watched.    I will be going back in November and basically have 20 minutes warning to save my own life if the Slump hits.

Note to self -- get instant EQ warning ap for the phone!
