I found a thermal image photo on the old "nukepimp" website when Anne pointed it out.
Could the new MOX fuel, stored in the equipment pool or just plain on the 4th floor slab have melted down, rolled over to the equipment shaft, fell down, and then melted out the side wall?
The reason GE was on site, was that at the time of the accident, they were actively changing out the "Shroud" which is an inner lining on the reactor, that help protect the reactor steel from neutron and other radiation damage. With MOX there is a lot more neutrons flying around. Neutrons will activate other materials that don't normally become part of a radiation family tree.
The reason that there was a 10Sv source on a steel tower between reactor 3 and 4 is because of an open air fission criticality that "activated" the tower.
So at Unit 4 Fukushima, GE was changing the shroud and they had the equipment pool chock full of MOX fuel assemblies, or maybe it was just sitting to the right by the access hoist up point, until they have been fissioned they dont really need to stay in water. This is the fire that the NRC FOIA documents talk about. A fire, a melting, an open air criticality
Immediately below might be Reactor 2, I can't do Kanji so not sure, but see the following picture too.
Above source is
No criticality occurred. The radiation detectors across the site would have pegged high off scale from the 1e19 neutrons liberated within a millisecond. Its nice to have this kind of specific knowledge as I have ferreted out the fiction here. Ill leave it to an exercise for you to determine the dose rate and doses to people from such an event.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, well lets see.....2 weeks later they were very proud that they actually had lights in a control room, so I am not buying the data logging neutron detection ability to be even a snow balls chance in hell of being present and working at the time of the explosion.
DeleteBut 5 people were reported to have received lethal doses. hmmmm
I think I have ferreted out a skunk.
Your first picture showing an arrow to potential MOX corium is not accurate. The picture shows the location at grade level. It would be impossible for high density (about 8-9 g/cc) metal to flow upwards against the force of gravity. The reactor is actually located well below grade level as the reactor vessel head may be several feet below grade. I'm sure you might think it flows upward but I would be curious how that could happen.Corium is most likely slumped in the bottom of the vessel. Muon tomography can verify this.
ReplyDeleteWow, you lack of attention to detail is amazing. The MOX was the new load, perhaps in the equipment pool, perhaps just on the 4th floor. That's above ground.
DeleteYou should also have been aware that Unit 4 reactor was reported as empty after GE had just completed a shroud replacement.
With all the radiation onsite, the new mox fuel very likely absorbed enough energy and neutrons and started a reaction, possibly not going to criticality, but melting and burning through the building floors and walls.Yes, highly likely!!
ReplyDeletea: there was no mox fuel in reactor 4 only reactor 3 was utilizing it.
ReplyDeleteB: indeed if there had been a criticality it would have been obvious sic unit 3.
c: if that was a melted blob of coruim especially mox corium the entire site would be a human no go zone.
they did indeed remove damaged fuel assys from unit 4 sfp successfully.
My partner and I stumbled over here from a different page and thought I should check things out.
ReplyDeleteI like what I see so now i am following you. Look forward to finding out about
your web page again.
36 seconds in, that side blob is yellow.
ReplyDelete52 seconds in look at that yellow smoke.
2:02 in, low res but I believe this is same side where that oozing occurred. Interesting how it 'collects' on vent tube...
Still shot video compilation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb5zT8D-Ppc
1:57 here in aerial footage slowed/stabilized. Notoriously difficult to find good images of this. I have always been skeptical as I would have expected it to 'melt-thru' those vent pipes...? How could they mitigate this? Bury in that huge cement hole they dug? I have some archived pics I need to send you when I get my laptop back from servicing from early days. They did a Fermi fix and capped a huge hole on the grounds. Will probably turn into a park someday for tourists :/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmI2lXiTo-g
