Next time you watch the news, remember this:
- Rachel Maddow makes $7M/year
- Tucker Carlson $6M
- Chris Cuomo $6M
- Don Lemon $4M
- Laura Ingraham $15M
- Jesse Waters $2M
- Whoopi Goldberg $6M
- Joy Behar $7M
- Sean Hannity $40M
- Anderson Cooper $12M
- Maria Bartiromo $10M
This list goes on and on and on. I dare you to find me a mainstream newscast whose primary taking head isn’t wealthy.
There’s nothing wrong with wealth. But when the cameras start rolling - they talk to you like they’re sitting right next to you.
Like they live next door.
Like they’re right in your struggle with you - yes, you - the person making under $100k/year and struggling to make ends meet.
They play into your negative emotions, use hyperbole to rile you up, and convince you to be angry at “the other side”
To blame this imaginary “other” for your issues. Your challenges. Your frustrations.
Showing only selective evidence that fits their political agendas.
In 2019, Whoopi Goldberg told The New York Times that The View is simply “a job” to her, explaining, “In a way, I am playing a role. These are not conversations that I'm having with my friends.”
If that doesn’t tell you all you need to know, nothing ever will.
