How to Shut Them All Down

How to Shut Them All Down
It won't happen over night

Many people would change their opinion about nuke, if the Nuclear Baloney were exposed.
Nuke propoganda has been huge and effective.

They have become very skilled at lying, since Truth is Not the Friend of Nuke.

Every plant shutdown is a victory

Let enforce this law in the US, Every plant over 40 needs to be shutdown.

In Japan, they are proposing that law right now, TODAY

Energies and types of particles

1-7-12 Just found this site, really good stuff, lets stand on each others shoulder to progress, at the bottom is a list of radionuclides, primary decay method, and energy,  GOOD STUFF!  Nicely summarized!

http://www.davistownmuseum.org/cbm/Rad2.html#checklist

Just putting this here for storage
http://www.evs.anl.gov/pub/doc/Strontium.pdf

You can see the energy emitted by Carbon 14, as a Beta, is way less than Strontium and it's evil daughter.

Plant on Fault Line, Now Leaking, Fault Line was covered up, in the US

One example of coverup and corruption in nuke

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/06/north-anna-nuclear-earthquake_n_1078870.html

The plant was shut down after earthquake.   Then as the tried to restart they found a critical leak.

Shut these plants down, and then never let them get up off the ground again.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/03/north-anna-nuclear-leak_n_1181547.html

Mann says "we take safety seriously"

  1. Then you would have switched to thorium decades ago
  2. And you wouldn't be storing all that plutonium laced spent fuel in fuel pool ABOVE the effen reactors, they were never intended or designed for that.
  3. And you wouldn't build in stupid places
  4. And you wouldn't capture the regulatory agencies
  5. And you wouldn't lie and coverup
  6. And you would get rid of the old plants

Yeah, just keep smiling and keep your head in the sand and that evil radiation won't hurt you.

Hands down, you may take "safety seriously" in your little weekly safety meetings documented to the hilt for sure, and your expensive equipment bought off the backs of the working people forced to buy your wares, but the overall broad picture reality speaks for itself.

Mutated Tomato from Japan

Nuke is Safe as long as you ignore the bad parts.

From Christy Sargent Anderson

Nuclear Energy is Safe! (SARCASM!) ...Crystal River in Florida, where news of a third major crack in the containmen
t building recently came to light, and Nebraska’s Fort Calhoun, which is still shut down after flooding earlier this year? New Hampshire’s Seabrook, where crumbling concrete was discovered in November, a month after the plant had to shut down because of low water levels, and Vermont Yankee, where radioactive tritium continues to leak into the Connecticut River.

North Anna, which scrammed when the Mineral Springs, VA, earthquake shook the reactors well in excess of their designed tolerances. Calvert Cliffs in Maryland, where a piece of siding blown off by Hurricane Irene shorted a transformer, and the resulting loss of power to safety systems caused its reactor to scram. Michigan’s Palisades nuclear power plant, which had to vent radioactive steam when it scrammed after worker error triggered a series of electrical issues?
Davis-Besse plant near Toledo, Ohio with its numerous cracks in its shield building.

Momentum is Turning, Nukes Gone Away!

The respected Huffington Post has tossed the vote in, no more nukes

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/harvey-wasserman/2012-is-the-year-to-final_b_1180444.html#postComment

The year 2012 has opened with news that Fukushima's radioactive cloud may already have killed some 14,000 Americans, according to a major study just published in the International Journal of Health Services.
Germany and Japan, the world's third and fourth largest economies, along with numerous others countries, have definitively turned away from the "Peaceful Atom."
But it hasn't yet been buried. That's up to us. And 2012 is the year to do it.

It is time to win this battle, put a nail in the coffin of nuclear, expose it for what it is.

Guide to Magnitude of Radiation Sources

After I while I move this into the White Lies of Nuclear tab.
Once a Pro-Nuker (PNP) starts spinning their lies, they will baffle you with some confusing nuke terms, then they will bust out some quantity prefixes like "tera" or "ferro" which not even engineers know, then they will move to the clincher argument...like, you know you get radiation just from sleeping next to someone, you know you get radiation from eating a banana, you know you get radiation from flying on an airplane. God save you if you are eating a banana in the mile high club!

But this chart is good because it put those little lie in perspective, getting dosed with 20mSv is LARGE. One thing on this chart I disagree with from general knowledge is the green lower left which shows "Normal yearly 'background' dose" at 4mSv of which only 15% is supposedly medical scans. See my Largest Lies of Nuclear for a pie chart that shows a more accurate truth. I put the chart here so you can cross compare (see bottom)

From this blogs "Conversion" page, 1 rem=.01Sv=10 mSv
So .31 Rem (from the pie chart) is about 3mSv, plus another 3mSv from "medical" like we really need that, and you got 6mSv, however only about 15% of the first 3mSv is "natural", or .45mSv. And then the Pro-Nuke-Pimps go on to lie saying that well, since you are naturally exposed to 6mSv, therefore adding an extra 5mSv is not that bad a thing. But the comparison should be between .45mSv which our species evolved with, and the EXTRA 5 mSV, i.e. add TEN TIMES more radiation. Stop that!

The sources for the upper chart (by others) are here, some are  broke.   They weren't really useful since it just takes to much time to dig and find the information that goes into this chart.  But here they are

PEPCO

OK I figured it out.   How to deal with TEPCO.   First Nationalize them, stripping back pension rights to anyone 2 tiers up from working technician level and up.   Strip those back 10 years, so they have to keep working at least 10 more years, even if otherwise ready to retire.

Spin off TEPCO into PEPCO Peoples Electric Power Company.  And have it be owned literally by the People of Japan, not the government, really owned by the people with the Gov acting as managing agent under the direction of a board of director comprised of the people.   No TEPCO personnel even if already retired would be allowed on the board of directors.   To get the expertise, they would be allowed to hire for 3 of 9 Board of Director positions from anywhere, including out of country if needed or desired.

ALL of the profits of PEPCO would go towards compensating the victims of the nuclear disaster--  for 90 years, the point at which the Strontium will be 12.5% as strong as now.   Fukushima would receive the most, but the adjacent prefectures would receive appropriate amounts also as determined by the board of directors.

A trust fund would be set up with segregated money to fund the health care expenses of those affected.   The trust fund would survive the PEPCO in case PEPCO failed.

The focus of the money would not be on moving people back, but on helping people find a productive and safe life.   This include costs for relocation and retraining, especially in renewable energy industries.

Good Primer on Nuke

This is a good introduction to Nuke.   It is not pro-nuke or anti-nuke, but pretty balanced.

I think it is time for nuke to go away.   It has proven itself time and time again to be unreliable and dangerous.   The industry is at least as corrupt as the oil industry.

But it is important to understand nuke in order to kill it.    So if you agree, and think that nuke has had 50 years to prove itself, and it did prove itself to be incaptible with the human race, then read this for educational purposes.   Know thine Enemy, so to speak.

Good Ammunition Cost Increases Work Against Nuke

How do you get gov to do the right thing?   Shame them into it?   This research paper talks about how new safety requirements could add 50% to cost of NPP's.

Boy Howdy, when I read this chart is says $2000 becomes $5000, in my little world, that is 250%, not the 50% stated.

While cost of solar PV has fallen 50% in 2 years, we can now generate PV at 2.9 cents per KWH, No evacuation zone, no public insurance policy, no death and disease, no oversea wars.

NUKE= no future

PNP is a Regime

http://www.world-nuclear-news.org/RS_Fault_lines_in_Japanese_nuclear_regime_3012111.html

WNN is a PNP, but amazing to see it talking about it's own industry as a "regime",  that's pretty cocky to feel like you can apply a 100% negative title to your industry and that somehow they will "bull" their way through with new plants, and extensions.

That says it all!

Renewable and Energy Efficiency

Fukushima area as a solar power plant=====get this!==== 50 nuclear plants!!!! Yeah!

Uh, BTW, Fukushima just destroyed 60 miles diameter, A=pi r2= 2846 square miles, at 640 acres per square mile, that is 1.8 million acres.    That is enough room for 256 each of the 1000Mw solar plants, yeah!!!!   Solar wins.

It is a no brainer to turn Fukushima into a solar power plant that can replace over 50 nuclear plants!  Yeah, thanks for pointing that out.

Trolls a Sign of the Times

Demonstration of what a Troll is

Troll below took a lame pot shot

photo
18 minutes ago(12:38 AM)
I looked at your "calculations". Do you really expect to be taken seriously? You have made so many assumptions about the dispersion of the isotopes and even their "non Chernobyl" identity that I have to laugh. You are practicing the same kind of deception you accuse nuclear advocates of....that or you don't know what you are doing.

But really you shouldn't embarrass yourself quite so badly...the document you are "laughing about" is labelled with it's source, so obviously you didn't really look.   the source is here for your convenience and embarrassment
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22206700

Its from the US National library of Medicine.    Hah! What a joker your are.   Pretending that the USNLIM was actually my work, and then taking pot shot at it.   Well you didn't actual even  muster a pot shot, all you did was say you laughed.

My assumptions in my work were fairly simple, I took a rectangular box that encompassed known EPA published data points, took an independent simulation of particulate spread, then made it smaller to be conservative, and then assumed a uniform distribution within the volume.   Assumptions were clearly stated, backed up with charts and models, and conservative.

The only way that much uranium was in the EPA filters was a massive launch and aerosolization of core or fuel pool material or both.    A little temporary even 3 day fire wouldn't do it.

Contrary to what you said I did not make assumption about dispersion of various isotopes, as I simplifed and made my estimates more conservative by only using the most common isotope U-238.

So again, just another pot shot from you.  Is that the best you can do, seriously?   If i was paying you to be a troll I would fire you.

You could reduce my estimates by 87% AND the only logical conclusion would still be a launch of 10's of tons of uranium.

Here is my original source material for those interested in the truth.

http://nukepimp.blogspot.com/2012/01/uranium-in-air.html

I have also documented your inability to actual mount an argument as an example in the blog.

Shut Down All of Them, Start now with California!

This from a reader, please check the links!

Hey Stock!

Almost everyone in Hawaii knows someone in California, so please spread the word and/or write a blog on the California ballot initiative to shut down California's nuclear power plants!

California's San Onofre nuclear power plant has the worst safety record of all 104 npp's in the U.S.! And California sits on both earthquake and tsunami zones!

Seismologists agree that California will have a devastating earthquake in the future!

And as the jet stream blows east, every state in the U.S. is downwind of California!

This may be the only time the PEOPLE have a chance to shut down the deeply entrenched nuclear industry.

Please pass along these links on the initiative:

http://sanonofresafety.org/california-nuclear-initiative/about-california-nuclear-initiative/

http://sanonofresafety.org/print-petition/

Thank you!
